Over the course of four weeks, a series of impactful training sessions were held to enhance the capacity and legal knowledge of community paralegals, empowering them to better support their communities. A total of 130 dedicated community paralegals participated, with 63 representing the vulnerable female (VF) community and 71 from the vulnerable male community.
The training program covered a wide range of pressing topics affecting the communities they serve. These included Police Interaction and Legal Procedures, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Safety and Security within the community, the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), and the proposed Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, among others.
In-depth discussions were facilitated by experts from the Police Service, Legal Aid, and Human Rights and Ethics fields. The participants had the opportunity to engage in focused dialogues, addressing challenges specific to their communities and collaboratively exploring practical solutions to navigate the legal landscape and create positive change. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening community-based legal support and fostering safer communities.
