PSEAH: Prevention of Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment.

Background:

The Global Fund recognizes that the eradication of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria depends upon the successful delivery of services to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. These populations are also amongst the most vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment (SEAH), unacceptable behaviours rooted in abuses of positions of power.

Overall Objective:
Aims at breaking the taboo of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) while equipping beneficiaries with the necessary tools to effectively prevent its occurrence and management of cases.

Recipients and Volunteers of Global Fund support are prohibited from engaging in sexual exploitation and abuse, and sexual harassment

Sexual Exploitation is any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust, for sexual purposes, including, but not limited to, profiting monetarily, socially or politically from the sexual exploitation of another.

Sexual abuse means the actual or threatened physical intrusion of a sexual nature, whether by force or under unequal or coercive conditions.

Sexual harassment is any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or be perceived to cause offense or humiliation. Sexual harassment may involve any conduct of a verbal, nonverbal or physical nature, including written and electronic communications.

Sexual activity with children (persons under the age of 18) is prohibited regardless of the age of majority or age of consent locally (in the jurisdiction where such activity takes place). Mistaken belief regarding the age of a child is not a defense.

With reference to the objectives a group CSO's have come tegether to establish the PSEAH Network to help eradicate all forms of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment perpetuated against vulnerable groups.

Exchange of money, employment, goods, or services for sex, including sexual favours or other forms of humiliating, degrading or exploitative behaviour is prohibited
